i'm with you on 8/27/72 there, i think its got the edge.

but the case for 6/22/73 can easily be made...its as close as the song ever got to being a full blown Dark Star. and the whole band (but especially Jerry, Phil and Keith) are as inspired as i've ever heard them-- it is one of my favoite GD performances ever; the whole show is extraordinary really!

great list cliff i'm going to have to check out some of these performances - i just DLed the 12/6/80 and 5/22/81 shows recently but i've still yet to listen to them. its hard to listen to all this new 80's stuff i'm getting when theres too much to enjoy from '68-'69!

I can certainly understand that. It's been my mantra.

However, both of those acoustic sets are treasures! You really shouldn't waste any more time before listening to them!

12/6/80 has some extraordinary acoustic jamming. Both Cassidy and Bird Song are best ever acoustic performances.

The performance of To Lay Me Down on 5/22/81 will give you goose bumps. And the acoustic rendition of Friend of the Devil is excellent as well.
